Hi, I'm Takafumi Megumi. Please call me Tak!
I'm a full-stack product engineer with 6+ years of experience building web and mobile products, mainly in React and TypeScript, with Java or Node on the backend. I take features from user research all the way to A/B-tested releases.

How it started

When I was in school, I made things like paintings and crafts in art class, and I was good at it. My work was often put on display, and a few pieces even won prizes. I was so happy when people saw my work and praised it.

I think those experiences led me to the work I do now. I enjoy the whole process, from coming up with an idea to bringing it to life, and I could keep doing it for hours.

In university, I built a website for my soccer community on my own. It was the first website I ever made. Along the way, I enjoyed learning how a website actually shows up on the screen, and I got interested in computer science. After that, I started freelancing and made websites for a shoe store, a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn), a tatami shop, a photographer and an accounting firm.

What I do now

For the last five years, I've worked at a Tokyo startup that runs a condo review platform. It's a small company of about twenty people, so my job isn't only coding. I find a problem users have, plan the solution, build it, and then measure the result after release. I do the whole cycle myself.

My hobbies

I always wanted to live and work abroad, so now I'm in Vancouver, Canada. The nature here is so big and beautiful, and I'm really into hiking now. The mountains and trees on this site come from the views that amazed me here!
I also love soccer. I've played it for more than ten years, and I still enjoy playing and watching it.
